Electroerosion in general is a manufacturing process also known as electric discharge machining or EDM (by its name in English, electrical discharge machining).
The process consists in the generation of an electric arc between a piece and an electrode or wire in a dielectric medium to pull particles of the piece until it is able to reproduce in it the shapes described by the trajectory of the thread.

The quality, material and diameter of the thread, in conjunction with the voltage and amperage applied, are factors that directly influence the speed with which a workpiece can be worked. Also, the thickness and material of the piece dictate adjustments for the performance of the cut.
